Study of Guillain Barre Syndrome in Children

Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS) is also called Landry's paralysis or Guillain-Barre-Strol Syndrome, it is an acute polyneuropathy affecting mainly the peripheral nervous system. The most common presentation is ascending paralysis, weakness starting from the feet and hands and slowly start migrating to trunk and unusual sensation or pain in the lower limbs with dysfunction of autonomic nervous system. This disease is usually initiated by infection and may lead to life threatening complications. Here we have studied in detail about the cause, presentation, management and complications of 30 cases of clinically proved GBS.
