Clinical randomized trial of topical Quercus infectoria ethanolic extract for the treatment of chronic diabetic ulcers

Abstract Quercus infectoria has been traditionally used for wound treatment for many years in Thailand. This study aimed to clinically assess the efficiency of Quercus infectoria solution for the treatment of chronic diabetic ulcers in patients. Quercus infectoria solution was pharmaceutically formulated. A multicenter randomized controlled trial was performed in diabetic patients with ulcers (Wagner Ulcer Classification grade 1-3), who received standard wound treatment (normal saline solution) plus Quercus infectoria solution (study group; n = 26) or the standard solution alone (control group; n = 25) for three months.
