COMPUTER SIMULATION STUDY ON THE EFFECT OF SAFETY BELT ON HEAD INJURY OF PASSENGERS
1997
Research into the occupant's kinematic response during collision is the basis of protecting the occupant's safety in an accident. The influence on occupant's kinematic response due to the stiffness of the belt and the position of the belt top-fixing point are studied in this paper by using advanced computer simulation, the program MADYMO, and the theory of regression. The results reveal the variable regularity of Head Injury Criterion (HIC) affected by linear and nonlinear interaction of every parameter. The results can be used to obtain the optimum regressive equations and provide the scientific basis for the correct selection of the stiffness of belts and the correct construction of the position of belt's top-fixing point.
