Cycloconverter Propulsion Systems: Modelling Performance in the Laboratory.

1994
Cycloconverters are convential drive units that provide electrical propulsion systems with high torque at low speed and may be selected for naval vessels operating in ice environments such as the Baltic. This paper assess the performance of cycloconvertes using a laboratory test rig built at the Royal Naval Engineering College to examine harmonic noise. A novel noise reduction method is proposed.
