Evaluación de la cicatrización dérmica post quirúrgica en ovario-histerectomia de caninos por medio de dos técnicas de suturas, mecánica y manual

2021
The research was carried out at the Cesar Augusto Guerrero” Veterinary Hospital, whose purpose The main objective was to evaluate two techniques of dermal suture in canine ovarian hysterectomy (Canis Lupus Familiaris), the use of two types of suture material, on the one hand Vicryl and on the other surgical (mechanical) staples. Healing time was evaluated, product safety used, considering the costs in the development of each suture technique. Very necessary values to consider for the recurrence of loss of stitches in the wound by the pet, during healing time. For the realization and comparison of these suture techniques, it was considered 16 female canine patients who were treated, clinically evaluated and their surgical interventions in the surgical area of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital. There were two working groups, including 8 canine females in each, using in the first group suture with vicryl and the second group with mechanical staples. The surgical technique by incision was performed in alba line; once the surgical procedure was finished, a daily follow up of the mascot in order to verify the permanence of the sutures made. Healing time average was 5.13 days for the group of patients with intradermal suture techniques and material vicryl, while the second group was 11.88 days on average, using the point technique simple with surgical staples. With respect to healing levels by first intention was found to be mostly satisfactory with 8 patients (100 %), 6 patients with scarring second intention (75 %), and finally we obtained 2 patients with third intention scarring intention representing (25 %). Regarding the cost per suture technique, the intradermal suture with vicryl resulted in a lower cost with $76.75 on average, compared to $88.00 for the single stitches and surgical staples. The suture with vicryl did not present any alteration in the healing process, as opposed to the 2 cases of infection (25 %), present in the stapled technique. Keywords: Suture, clamps, Skin
