Aluminum Matrix Composite Reinforced by Carbon Fibers

Abstract Research shows the possibility of fabrication of CF/Al composite plates of 70x70x5 mm size by the shell molding process. Dependence of the volume of voids fraction in the composite on the infiltration pressure was studied. The minimum pressure required for complete infiltration of the carbon fibers was 12 MPa.
