“Salve a seleção”: ditadura militar e intervenções políticas no país do futebol / “Save the Brazilian Team”: Military regimen and political intervention in “soccer country”

RESUMO: O Presente artigo visa o resgate historico de dois temas que se entrelacam na historia recente do pais e que estabelecem o ano de 2014 como um marco historico no que tange a memoria social referente aos dois temas: os 50 anos do golpe militar de 1964 e a realizacao da Copa do Mundo no Pais. Nesse sentido, buscamos resgatar fatos historicos que se relacionam com os elementos da memoria social que compoe a identidade nacional solidificada sobretudo na decada de 1970 com a consagracao do Brasil como o “Pais do Futebol” e como uma verdadeira “patria de chuteiras”. Destaca-se nesse periodo a intensa intervencao politica por parte do governo militar junto a selecao Brasileira de futebol nos cinco campeonatos de copa do mundo durante os 21 anos de ditadura militar a fim de assegurar a ideologia da seguranca nacional implantada pelo regime. ABSTRACT: The present paper aims at the historical rescue of two subjects that are connected in the Brazilian recent history, and that establish the year of 2014 as a historical landmark of the social memory: the 50th anniversary of the 1964 military blow, and the execution of the World Cup in Brazil. In this sense, we seek to rescue historical facts that are related with elements of the social memory that compose a solid national identity, especially in the seventies, with the consecration of the country as the “Soccer Country” and as a true “nation in football boots”. What stands out in this period is the intense political intervention by the government over the Brazilian team in the five championships of the World Cup that happened in these 21 years of military dictatorship in Brazil. This control aimed to assure the ideology of the national security implanted by the Military Regimen. Keywords: social psychology; military regimen; soccer; World Cup; brazilian team.
