A Case Report of Anterior Superior Dislocation of the Hip

1998
We report a very rare case with anterior superior dislocation of the hip joint. The patient was a 31 year-old man who was injured by falling downstairs. We misdiagosised posterior dislocation of the hip at the initial radiological examination. However, CT scanning revealed, anterior superior dislocation. For repositioning and fixation of the superior bone fragment of the acetabulum, the anterior aproach was performed. The operation was done two weeks after the injury. Anterior superior dislocation of the hip is rare and the reducation was easy, compared with posterior dislocation. Diagnosis was difficult using X-ray. On the other hand, CT scanning was useful for the diagnosis, even after reduction. The patient has been doing well at follow-up one year after surgery.
