EnglishIdanha-a-Velha, the ancient ciuitas Igaeditaronum and Late Antique bishopric of Egitania, features a significant and well-preserved 6th century episcopal ecclesiastical complex composed of multiple buildings that correspond to several chronological stages. It is the subject of a multidisciplinary study conducted from several approaches with a variety of methodological resources. Yet, one of our methodological priorities was to apply the precepts of Archeology of Architecture and Remote Sensing. The stratigraphic study of the walls preserved in the archeological site of Paco dos Bispos made it possible to differentiate between several periods of construction and define their technical characteristics. Indeed, the study of the walls proved essential to be able to identify the original plan of the episcopal structure and distinguish it from later changes.
