Influence of type of raw material and synthesis temperature on structure and properties of manganese zinc ferrites

1986
The aim of this investigation was to optimize the conditions of synthesis and to compare the quality and physicochemical properties of manganese zinc ferrites obtained from iron oxide brand MM-1 and manganese carbonate of two different brands distinguished by dispersiveness and by alkali metal impurity content. The raw materials were fired, pressed and sintered, and then investigated by X-ray, magnetic, chemical, metallographic and Moessbauer methods. The samples were compared for their active oxygen content, their degree of ferritization, and their specific saturation magnetization. Data are presented on their relative shifts in the X-ray spectra, the influence of temperature on the valence and distribution of the zinc and manganese cations, quadrupole splitting for the B/sub 1/ lattice versus the cation content, and the chemical shift of Fe 57 nuclel lying in the various sublattices.
