Vitamin-D concentration and cardiovascular disease in maintenance dialysis patients

2017
Objective To study the relationship between cardiovageular disease(CVD) and Vitamin D in maintenance dialysis patients. Methods 160 cases were retrospectively analyzed. The clinical data were recorded at the beginning.Meanwhile, Vitamin D were detected. The relationships between serum Vitamin D level and some laboratory parameters were analyzed. The risk factors of cardiovageular diseases were investigated through Logistic regression analysis. Results Serum Vitamin D level decreased in maintenance dialysis patients compared with that in normal controls((16.62±8.24) vs (28.42±10.84)ng/ml, P<0.05). The patients in CVD group had significantly lower Vitamin D level (P<0.05); Vitamin D was negatively correlated with LDL-C, PTH, hs-CRP, IL-6, LVMI, IMT(r=-0.521, P=0.026; r=-0.498, P=0.037; r=-0.601, P=0.018; r=-0.584, P=0.021; r=-0.641, P=0.002; r=-0.567, P=0.022). It was positively correlated with Hb, Alb and LVEF(r=0.398, P=0.039; r=0.573, P<0.001; r=0.526, P=0.019). Multivariable logistic regression analysis showed that Vitamin D, PTH and hs-CRP were independent risk factors for CVD. Conclusions Serum Vitamin D level is significantly lower in maintenance dialysis patients. Vitamin D is an independent risk factor of CVD in maintenance dialysis patients.
