Experimental verification of novel two-point supported piezo-driven cell injector

Piezoelectric vibration cell penetrating technology has been proved to be a useful technology in biomanipulation field. It helps biomedical operators obtain a slight damage to cells and get a high cell injection success rate in manipulation. But conventional piezo-driven injection equipments still have some problems limit their applications. Large scale harmful lateral vibration and complex manipulation process affect the injection success rate a lot. This paper reports a novel structure piezo-driven injector for ovum cell injection, this injector can make a slight damage to the ovum in an ultrasonic frequency range. The new structure injector in this paper has a good performance in many aspects, and this good performance has been proved by our test and experiments. The injector was tested in air and cell culture medium first, after that, it was used to perform penetrating experiment for pig's ovum. Result shows pipette tip's lateral vibration is tiny, damage to cells is slight, and penetrating time is short at the same time. In one word, the injector can work stably and perform well in ultrasonic frequency range. Therefore, this injector can be a good preparation for future research works.
