A New modifiedbifilar DriveCircuit for Switched Reluctance Motor

Switched reluctance motor(SRM)drivehasa remarkable characteristic, whichmakesitattractive forhigh- speedinlowvoltage applications. Inthispaper, a newdrive circuit fromthebifilar family whichusesresonant circuit during discharge period ispresented. Thenewtopology provides faster rateofcurrent discharge, whichpermits themotortooperate at higher speeds. Inthenewcircuit, a capacitor isconnected in series withthemotorbifilar winding. Inaddition, a lossless snubberhasbeenemployed topreventhighvoltage peaks producedon thepowerswitching transistor. A detailed explanation anddemonstration oftheconverter circuit using simulation andexperimental havealsobeenpresented.
