Assessment of Lead in Human Deciduous Teeth as Indicator for Environment Pollution

2012
The study was carried out on 232 shed and extracted human primary teeth from 227children ranging from 6 to 13 years of age , both genders were involved, collected from public dental health services and private clinics, from Helwan as an industrial area and Heliopolis as a non industrial area at Cairo, Egypt. Only teeth without fillings were used, and carious substance was removed from carious lesions before the analysis was carried out. The statistical results demonstrate that, Pb concentration is highly significantly increased (P≤ 0.001) in primary teeth of Helwan groups than in Heliopolis one; also the Pb concentration is increased in the presence of roots and caries (P≤0.001) and it affected by the tooth group. The tooth lead concentrations showed a falling gradient from the incisors to the molars (P≤ 0.001)
