Compliance with Isolation Precautions for Clostridium difficile Before and After Institutional Implementation of a Special Isolation Category

Background/Objectives: Improvement of Hand Hygiene (HH) compliance is a common goal in healthcare, but sustained achievement of that goal has been elusive. A prerequisite for improvement in any area is to have good data on the current state. In this study an electronic monitoring system was utilized to increase the available information on HH events in two medical surgical units of an acute care hospital.
