Optimum Design of 1×N Electro-optic Switch Integrated in a Single Slab

A configuration of electro-optic 1×N switch integrated in a single slab of LiNbO_3 is analyzed.Then the requirement for this new type of 1×N switch is found to be that the interface for k+1 th reflection must be perpendicular to the interface for k th reflection.And a simple modification can be taken to obtain a good arrangement with output positions for receiving output signals.Additionally,selection of crystal size is discussed to avoid the input signal walking off.An experimental 1×4 switch is demonstrated,too.
