5G Communication Systems Signal Processing PAPR Reduction Technique

2018
The high spectral efficiency of signals based on the OFDM method has a number of disadvantages that limit its use in 5G. The introduction of new signals performing similar functions in conjunction with the requirement to reduce the hardware cost of the terminal equipment of the 5G network elements faces the problem of a high peak factor (PAPR) and an increase in the error vector module (EVM). This article describes the experience of implementing signals planned for use in the 5G standard on USRP-2943R and FPGA Kintex-7. The available options for reducing the peak-factor signals with increasing out-of-band emissions are revealed, the gain of which is ensured by the use of new signal generation schemes.
