ULTRASONIC STUDY OF DAMAGE EVOLUTION ON CREEPED STEEL

1991
This paper presents research carried out by ultrasonic techniques for assessing the damage degree of creeped steel. Velocity and attenuation measurements were performed in the frequency range 5-25 MHz in a sample with different damage degree. A metallographic study has also been carried out. The experimental results, interpreted by means of the available theoretical models permitted quantification of the porosity of the material and estimation of the evolution of the damage.
