YA peer leader programme
2016
The YA Peer Leader programme has been commissioned by the Department for Education and is managed by the Youth Sport Trust.
The programme aims to develop leadership skills, increase participation in the least active and enhance teacher’s competence and understanding to drive the leadership pathway through training and peer led activity. 200 schools (100 Primary and 100 Secondary) across England have been recruited to take part in the programme, of which 5% are special schools.
spear has been commissioned by Youth Sport Trust to evaluate the delivery and impact of the programme among those schools taking part in 2015/16. In doing so, spear will be able to gain an insight into the core aims of the programme and assess the ways in which they had been interpreted by the stakeholders. This project includes the creation of a suite of five interactive site visit case studies that will highlight where the programme has been used most effectively to increase participation levels in the least active young people.
