A Subject-specific Layered Head Model for Monte Carlo Fitting in Time-domain Near-infrared Spectroscopy

2018
Obtaining the absolute values of absorption coefficient in brain tissue has been a challenge in Near-infrared spectroscopy. Here a new layered head model is introduced based on the shape of each individual head surface to estimate absorption coefficient. Monte Carlo simulations are used to calculate distributed time of flight (DTOF) for each sourcedetector channel. These results can be used for fitting of experimental DTOFs obtained from Time-domain near-infrared spectroscopy.
