Reliability Assessment of an Electronic System :A Case Study of a British Siren in Nigeria

2007
This paper assesses the reliability of a British Siren used i n N igeria. The Part Stress Method was used to assess t he reliability of the system. Data on the failure rate of the various system components were used, w ith special co nsideration given to factors like environment o f use , quality o f p ower su pply and service personnel. A comparative assessment was made on the reliability of the system, when operated within t he Nigerian environment and when operated wi thin t he environment for w hich it was designed (Britain). T he result shows tha t l ower re liability l evel is associated with the use of t he British Siren in Nigeria, as compared with the reliability level when in use in the country for which it was designed.
