GEO-ENVIRONMENTAL ASPECTS INTEGRATED INTO GIS DATABASE TO SUPPORT EMERGENCY PLANNING OF THE NUCLEAR POWER PLANT ANGRA DOS REIS-RJ, BRAZIL

2013
The nuclear complex is a type of enterprise that, in the event of an accident, its consequences can be catastrophic, especially because usually the impacts not just one or the other aspect that integrates its area of influence, but a set of elements that are part of the environmental dynamics of geographic space. From this perspective, analyzing the emergency planning for situations involving accidents on a nuclear power plant, all the elements that make up the local reality must be considered and included in the emergency action plan, in order to evaluate the consequences in all environments, once even prioritizing the human life, it becomes necessary to evaluate integrated geo-environmental aspects, which interact with the population who depend such as hydrography - where the supply for water consumption is done, among other uses; cultivation areas - whose lands are used for food production; In addition to other equally important environments. Considering such an approach, it was elaborated a GIS with information about the area of influence of the Angra dos Reis nuclear complex, constituting a database about the region and its scientific knowledge, the results of which serve to support decision making for emergency planning and, from the point of view of risk management, contribute to the preparation of guidelines that might subsidize the local planning in the environmental field, urban or emergency.
