The preparation and crystal structure of a novel trigonal bipyramidal copper(II) complex

Abstract {(2-Acetylpyridineimino)ethyl}{bis(2-aminoethyl)}amine copper(II)perchlorate was prepared. Its crystal structure indicated that the complex has a distorted trigonal bipyramidal configuration. This complex originates from [(apip)Cu(im)Zn(tren)](ClO 4 ) 3 , which hydrolyses in aqueous solution. The present paper also reports some research on its precursor complex.
