The invention relates to a method for producing a composite tube (10 ') for a vehicle body. The method comprises at least the steps of - providing a tube (10) made of metal, - forming of the tube (10) into a predetermined shape, - introducing a spray gun (20) into the tube (10), - spraying a layer of fibers (30) in at least a portion of the inside of the tube (10) to the spray gun (20), wherein the fiber layer (30) consists of a matrix material with embedded fibers, - removal of the spray gun (20) from the tube (10), and - hardening of the fiber layer (30).
