Survey and analysis of vegetation and hydrological change in English dune slack habitats

2014
Statement from Natural England: Dune wetlands have been a poorly understood component of dune ecosystems. However, the majority of England’s dunes are notified and/or designated under national and European environmental legislation. In addition, most face a range of acute and current challenges to their ecological condition. This combination has made it difficult for Natural England to effectively and efficiently carry out its statutory duties where these relate to sand dunes. The two year research programme on dune ecohydrology led by CEH for Natural England, with contributions from BGS, has resulted in a major improvement in this situation.
