Successful Replantation of an Amputated Nose by Microvascular Anastomosis-A Technique Refinement

2005
In the literature there were only a few reports of successful microsurgical replantation of amputated nasal tip(superscript 1-4). More often there was no problem in locating the arteries of the amputated part, but we often faced tremendous difficulty of searching the outflow veins for anastomosis. Moreover, we also encountered poor microscopic visual field during the anastomosis because the arterial stump in the amputated part was always short and in a very difficult position for vascular clump. The following illustration shows a better practical approach to facilitate the microvascular anastomosis of an amputated nose.
