Se hace camino al andar: Educación médica de pregrado en el Departamento de Cirugía

Surgical education in Colombia is undergoing an accelerated transformation. The documentation of the educational transformation in the country, however, is limited. This study presents a chronological review of teaching approaches in the Department of Surgery of the Universidad de la Sabana. The review focuses on the strategies and milestones reached at the undergraduate level, after transforming the traditional model of teaching of the early 21st century. The review is based on the synthesis of a series of original studies, which offer evidence on the interventions conducted in the department and on their results. Finally, a reflection on future challenges is presented.
