Selected Sport Newspapers Content Analysis: Case Study of Sydney 2000 and Athens 2004 Olympics

Background: The purpose of this study is to analyze the contents of the selected sports newspapers before, during and after the mega events of Sydney 2000 and Athens 2004 Olympics. Method: The samples of the research include 7 sports newspapers and magazine which were published three weeks before, during and after the events. Code letters, index cards and ruler by the unit of centimeters are used to collect data in the field of research variables including various writing styles, in print surface and orientation. Results and Conclusions: After collecting data, we attempted to analyze them and the results showed that there is significant difference between the in print surface of the news relate to before, during and after the Olympics 2004 and the occurrence of the events with 99% confidence(F= 5.945). While there is no significant difference the Olympics 2000. Also the most in print surface of the press in ride the country is allocated to wrestling and weightlifting (respectively 41.29%, 16.1% in Sydney 2000 & 47.64%, 21.5% in Athens 2004). The majority of the orientations of the printed materials before, during and after the events in both Olympics were positive.
