Therapeutic Effects of Adriamycin-Loaded Nanoparticles Administered Via Hepatic Artery Against Rabbit Hepatoma

2009
Objective To observe the therapeutic effects against rabbit hepatoma with adriamycin-loaded nanoparticles-lipiodol (Lip-NADM) administered via hepatic artery. Methods Lip-NADM was prepared by the interfacial polymerization method. Normal saline, lipiodol, free adriamycin (ADM, 2mg/kg), adriamycin plus blank nanoparticle (ADM+NP, 2mg/kg), adriamycin-loaded nanoparticles (NADM, 2mg/kg), and Lip-NADM were injected respectively via the hepati c artery into six groups of rabbit VX-2 liver tumor model. Results The survival time was prolonged in animals treated with Lip-NADM significantly (P0.01); the tumor growth inhibition was more significant (P0.01) and necrosis more extensive in comparison with animals received other groups. Conclusion Hepatic arterial infusion of Lip-NADM was more effective than all other groups.
