Embolization of splenic artery branch pseudoaneurysm after blunt abdominal trauma

1996
Although rare, the detection of visceral artery aneurysms has increased with advances in imaging modalities. 1,2 Splenic artery pseudoaneurysms after blunt trauma have recently been reported with follow-up imaging emphasized for detection. 3,4 With an increase in nonoperative management of splenic injuries, consideration of splenic artery pseudoaneurysm is warranted in some pediatric patients after blunt trauma. When encountered, transcatheter embolization of the pseudoaneurysm is a therapeutic option.
