CLINICAL EFFECTS OF GLUCOCORTICOID ON POSTHERPETIC NEURALGIA OF HERPES ZOSTER

2011
[Objective]To investigate the clinical effects of glucocorticoid on postherpetic neuralgia of herpes zoster.[Methods]128 herpes zoster patients with post herpetic neuralgia treated in our hospital from Aug,2007 to Aug,2010 were involved in this research, and these patients' age was all more than 50 years. The patients were divided randomly into research group and control group. The control group was used aciclovir while the research group was used aciclovir and glucocorticoid. The healing of skin damage, incidence of postherpetic neuralgia and the scores of pain were compared between the two groups.[Results]The healing of skin damage in the research group was better than control group, and the incidence of postherpetic neuralgia and the scores of pain in the research group were lower than control group. We did not find serious side effects by using glucocorticoid.[Conclusion]Using glucocorticoid to treat herpes zoster postherpetic neuralgia can be safe and effective.
