The purpose of this study is to examine the application to architecture assets for the purpose of historical and cultural urban regeneration. Architecture is an intrinsic part of urban history and identity but it has not been designated as cultural heritage. A typical example is of this system is to understand an example of modern architecture. Buildings which have not been designated as cultural heritage are subject to removal in the wake of housing redevelopment project. Modern architecture is designating through Using Promotion Architecture Assets Act modern architecture can be protected, so urban regeneration within an old inner-city area can take place. According to all sources of literature related to modern architecture and building resister, there are many examples of modern architecture that exist without designation as being protected in Incheon. Using the Promotion Architecture Assets Act, an open port, modern architecture can be protected in Dong-gu, Bupyeong-gu and this system can prevent any gentrification effects. To maximize this effect, continuous building-investigation-systems should be implemented and consultative group who evaluate and educate value of architecture assets should be organized.
