Hepatitis C virus infection and natural killer cell-mediated antiviral innate immunity

Hepatitis C virus(HCV)infection has become a major public health problem worldwide.Innate immunity appears to play an important role in the pathogenesis of viral hepatitis C.Among various innate immune cells,natural killer(NK)cells raised particular interest.These cells are abundant in the liver.This review focuses on the interplay between HCV infection and NK cell-mediated antiviral innate immunity in the development of HCV disease.
