Efeito das políticas públicas na cadeia produtiva do frango

2009
The objective of this study was to evaluate the impact of public policies, especially taxes, interest rates and social charges on the profitability and competitiveness of the broiler chain as well as the effect of tax reduction in the main essential inputs on the chain cost structure. The data refers to the years 2005–2006 obtained in a large industry that coordinates an integrated system located in an agro-cluster in the west of Santa Catarina State and operates in the internal and international market. The method applied was the policy analysis matrix (PAM). The results indicate that in the studied period, the broiler chain showed favorable indicators of competitiveness and profitability, but suffers the effects of distortions caused by public policies. The reduction of taxes over the main essential inputs (labor, crude oil, maize, soybean meal and electricity) would be enough to improve the chain efficiency indicators.
