Recognising sites of conservation significance for biodiversity values in the Northern Territory

This document and the associated inventory of site information report (Harrison et al. 2009) provide the scientific background and justification for the classification of sites of International and National conservation significance for biodiversity values in the NT. Subsequent sections of this report outline the criteria and thresholds used, the data sources, and a brief summary of the distribution and importance of the sites identified; give a summary of the community consultation and feedback received, and; provide an initial prioritisation of sites. The inventory report (Harrison et al. 2009) comprises a detailed information paper for each site that summarises its conservation values and the current data (and their sources) that trigger the conservation significance level (International or National).
