Alpha-Interferon and Bone Marrow or Peripheral Blood Stem Cell Transplantation

Data of major clinical trials concerning bone marrow transplantation (BMT) or peripheral blood stem cell transplantation (PBSCT) and treatment with alpha-inter-feron (IFN-α) exist only for patients with chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) and multiple myeloma (MM). Therefore, this contribution is mainly restricted to these two indications. In addition, a brief summary of experimental data on the use of IFN-α for the induction of autologous graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) is given.
