Novel oxygen-containing titanocene and its use

1990
NEW MATERIAL: A compound of the formula [wherein R 1 is cyclopentadienyl, indeny or the like; R 2 is a six-membered carbocyclic ring, a five- or six- membered heterocyclic aromatic ring (at least the two positions ortho to the titanium-carbon bond are substituted by F or the like); R 3 is R 2 ; and R 2 and R 3 in the titanocene is -O-Y-R 5 (wherein Y is -CO- or the like; and R 5 is a 1-20C alkyl or the like)]. EXAMPLE: B is(cyclopentadienyl)bis(2,6-difluoro-3-hydroxyphenyl)titanium. USE: A photoinitiator for the production of coating materials, printing inks, plate faces, dental materials, resist materials and image-recording materials. PREPARATION: A compound of the formula (wherein R 2 and R 3 are each substituted with -OH) is reacted with a compound of the formula: R 5 -X-Y (wherein X is a halogen), with a compound of the formula: (R 5 CO) 2 O or with a compound of the formula: R 5 -NCO or the formula: R 5 -NCS.
