Wake effects on charged particle stopping in solids

1986
Abstract The wake effect on stopping is considered in the high velocity region using Bethe theory. The dependence of the scattering cross section for different energy transfer on the wake is shown by introducing a wake charge density and it is found that the wake is important. The calculation gives an explanation of the difference of stopping in the gas state and the solid state.
