Prefectural differentials in recent fertility

An analysis of recent trends in differential fertility in Japan is presented by province. The emphasis is on marital fertility differences as measured by cumulative rather than age-specific fertility rates. Data are from the 1987 National Fertility Survey as well as the 1990 census.
