A combined application of particle swarm optimization algorithm and ADINA for parametric inversion of earth-rock dams

Focusing on the problem of the feedback analysis for earth-rock dams,the present study realizes a seamless connection between the particle swarm optimization algorithm and the large commercial finite element software ADINA with the FORTRAN programming,and developed an automated calculation process.The computation efficiency is improved by applying the OpenMP mode for calling the ADINA and invoking multiprocessor computers to achieve parallel computing.By taking the super high core rock-fill dam of the Nuozhadu hydropower station as an example,the parametric inversion was conducted for the data analysis of coarse rockfill materials of Zone 1 with different population sizes.The results indicate that the combined application of particle swarm optimization algorithm and ADINA for the parametric inversion of earth-rock dams is feasible,and the parallel algorithm has obvious advantages.
