Hospitality in the farmhouse in Sao Paulo's countryside.

This article analyses the reception extended to travelers through the architectural indications found at Boa Esperanca Farmhouse, located in the city of Orlandia, State of Sao Paulo. This qualitative research is based on interviews and complemented by analysis and photographs of the farm premises. The analysis of the material evidences observed in the farmhouse, such as how the furniture was arranged and the special uses of several rooms, still maintained by current owners, shows that only people of the same level were received in the family environment. The others stayed in sheds or simple quarters distant from the main house. This study also shows that social aspect of entertaining was important to establish contacts, receive news besides the economic aspect involved in charging pasture for cattle and selling inputs.
