Serum Immunoglobins (A, G And M) And Alpha-1-Antitrypsin In Patients With Pulmonary Hydatidosis

1994
Serum immunoglobulins (IgA, IgG and IgM) and alpha antitrypsiny (I±1-AT) levels were measured by single radial immunodiffusion techinque in 10 patients with surgically confirmed pulmonary hydatid disease. Histology did not show degenerated cyst in any of the patients and they probably had active disease. The serum levels of all immunoglobulin classes were significantly raised. Intermediate deficiency of serum alpha, antitrypsin (I±1 - AT) levels was observed in two of the patients which did not alter significantly following surgery. Implications of these findings are discussed.
