Hubungan gangguan pendengaran dan frailty pada lansia di Panti Sosial Tresna Werdha Wana Seraya Denpasar

Introduction: Human life expectancy is increasing along with developments and advances in the medical field. Frailty is characterized by a decrease in physiological reserves and susceptibility to stressors which are independently associated with falls, disability, hospitalization, cognitive impairment and death. Hearing loss has a very broad scope and level that disrupts socialization. Increased incidence of hearing loss in the elderly is associated with frailty. Aim: Determine factors related to hearing loss and frailty in the elderly at Tresna Werdha Wana Seraya Nursing Home Denpasar, Bali Method: This study uses a cross sectional analytic design with the method of sampling is total sampling. Samples were interviewed to determine demographic characteristics. Functional status was assessed by ADL Barthel, hearing loss was assessed by the Indonesian version of the HHIES questionnaire, cognitive function by the MOCA-INA and Frailty questionnaire was measured using Fried Frailty Phenotype. Data analysis using SPSS 23 with fisher's exact test. Result: A total of 30 elderly samples aged 61-94 years participated in this study with a median age of 73.73 years. A total of 13 samples (43.3%) experienced frailty. Of the various variables analyzed, the level of independence (P = 0.025), hearing loss (P = 0.005) and cognitive impairment (P = 0.011) were significantly related to frailty. Conclusion: There were 13 people (43.3%) experienced frailty. Dependency, cognitive impairment and hearing loss are variables related to the occurrence of frailty in this study.
