Charge transfer complex method for the estimation of ebastine in tablets

A simple and sensitive spectrophotometric method employing acid-dye technique was developed for the estimation of ebastine in pharmaceutical dosage form. The proposed method is based on the formation of ion-pair complexesof the drug with six acid dyes, which are extracted into chloroform and the absorbances measured at the λ m a x of the complexes. A 0.1% w/v solution of ebastine was used to establish the parameters such as λ m a x . Molar absorptivity, Sandell's sensitivity and Beer's law concentration. The proposed method is rapid, economical, reproducible and useful for the routine determination of ebastine in tablets.
