Cisto espendimário extraventricular

2017
Ependymal-lined intracranial cysts without communication with the ventricles or subarachnoid spaces are rare. A case of a 74 years-old patient with a recent history of fits followed by left hemiparesis and a CT showing a right frontal hypodense lesion is reported. The cyst was punctured twicely but recorred, after what the ultimate treatment was the implantation of a catheter communicating the cyst to the right frontal horn of the ventricule. Most authors agree that these cysts have a neuroephitelial origin with a simple columnar coverint, ocurring mostly in female adults, usually in a frontal intracerebral location; they are considered development anomalies due to ectopic segregation of primitive neuroephitelial cells, growing up slowly and producing focal signs and symptoms. Up until now the best result are obtained with communication of the cyst to the ventricle or a cystperitoneal shunt instead of simple puncture with or wihtout drain.
