Summary Design as a research topic is usually a topic that polarizes those who try to locate it within scientific practices, in this line of thought, the design definition is usually a particularly complex subject due to the factors that make it up, since there are usually opposite perspectives where some authors establish the work of design as an activity that must be carried out through an established procedure to be evaluated and replicated, while other authors such as Edward T. White (1987) establish this same activity as a procedure "Individual" and almost "artisanal" in which the product is practically a representation of the capacity and essence of the designer. The chapter seeks to elucidate the elements proposed by various authors such as: in Mexico, Rodriguez Morales (2015), in the world, H. Baker (1998), Alvar Aalto (1982), and in studies within the state of Mexico, Hoyos Martinez (2014), Jimenez Cervantes (2012).
