Clinical Application of Retention Enema with Traditional Chinese Herbs in Perioperative Nursing Care for Patients Undergoing Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy
2007
Objective To study the clinical effect of retention enema with Hezhongyin,a home-made Chinese herbal medicine,on the nausea, vomiting and intestinal function after laparoscopic cholecyslectomy. Methods A total of 350 patients were divided into 7 groups equally, including a control group and 6 experimental groups at random. The patients in the control group were given routine nursing care. The patients in the experimental groups received retention enema with 180 ml Hezhongyin in the evening(18:00~20:00) before the operation, and 6,24 hours after the operation. The retention enema lasted for 5,15,30,45,60,and 90 min.The frequency of nausea, vomiting, the time of bowel sound and gas passage were observed and recorded 4~36 hours after the operation. Results The frequency of nausea and vomiting in the 30 min,45 min,60 min and 90 min groups were significantly lower than those in the control group after the laparoscopic cholecystectomy(P0.05 for all). The bowel sound and gas passage took place earlier in 30,45,60 and 90 min groups than in the control group(P0.05 for all). All the parameters mentioned above, significant differences were found among the experimental groups.Comparison between each two experimental groups, the 5 min and 15 min group had no significanat difference(P0.05 for all),but they noted significant differences with the last four groups(30,45,60 and 90 min groups) respectively(P0.05 for all). And the last four groups showed no significant differences(P0.05 for all). Conclusion Retention enema with Hezhongyin could effectively prevent the nausea and vomiting after laparoscopic cholecystectomy and promote the postoperative recovery of intestinal function. The best effect can be achieved when the time of retention enema is 30 min and it is not necessary to extend the retention enema to one hour.
