A Novel Rapid Bit-Loading Algorithm for Power-Line Communication

The Adaptive Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is suitable to be used in the distribution network power-line communication(PLC). The bit-loading algorithm is an important constituent of adaptive OFDM. Here, according to the actual condition of PLC channel, the optimization model for power-line communication is analyzed. Then a novel bit-loading algorithm, which applies the rate adaptation, is proposed. By means of sorting sub-channels and principle of greedy method, this algorithm can implement the bit loading rapidly. Theoretical analysis and simulation results show that the proposed algorithm has low operational complexity and can get the satisfying bit-loading result.
