Comportamiento de factores moduladores del estrés en pacientes con enfermedades dermatológicas psicosomáticas.

2011
In order to know the variations of the factors that modulate the stress in people who suffer dermatological psychosomatic diseases a descriptive study was carried in and specific time taking 60 people who were diagnosed plain lichen, psoriasis, vitiligo and alopecia aerate and were assisted at the Dermatological Department of “General Calixto Garcia” Hospital, in Havana City, from January to march 2008. These patients were applied the Questionnaire of Socio Demographic Variables; the Vulnerability to Stress, test by Miller and Smith; the Self-esteem Inventory by Coppersmith, a Survey on Personal Strength by Susana Kobasa; and the Anxiety and Depression Scale, by Goldberg. For the statistical analysis, the distribution of the absolute and relative frequencies was compared with the statistical packet SPSS, 11.5 version. Female was the prevailing sex in these individuals. It was found that only a 30 percent had previously received psychiatric or psychological assistance. Almost all of them had stressful events during the last 6 months with a high frequency of family conflicts. A high percent of them had the perception of having family support, a contradiction if it is taken into account that the conflicts in this area prevailed. There was a clear prevailing group of individual vulnerable to stress. Followed by those seriously vulnerable, the latter only found patients who suffered from psoriasis. The level of self-esteem was generally low. The greatest number of them got a bad category about their personal strength. A high level of anxiety and depression was also observed. In general, the factors that protect against the stress were seriously affected.
