Observatoires environnementaux pour le développement et rôle du paysage

For the past two decades, confronted to world-wide changes, scientists have been setting up environmental observatories, which they increasingly rely on in order to contribute to knowledge acquisition. Such information system informs on the state and dynamics of societies and territories (observation based diagnosis) and provides stakeholders, decision makers and users with forecasts, which should help growers as well as governing bodies in making decision. Observatories should also contribute to medium or long-term recommendation elaboration for territories management and sustainable development, within the frame of international environmental conventions.
